About This Project
One Egg. One Day. One Learner.
Lighthouse Aid Limited is proud to sponsor the School Nutrition Project at Swapnanagar Bidyaniketan in rural Chattogram, Bangladesh, in partnership with Swapnanagar Society.
Swapnanagar Bidyaniketan is a community-built, fee-free school that has been serving children from disadvantaged and ultra-poor families since 2009. Many of its students come from families living below the poverty line, including descendants of historically marginalised tea garden communities. For these children, education offers an important pathway towards opportunity and a more secure future.
However, learning is difficult when a child comes to school hungry.
Many students arrive at school without adequate breakfast, facing a long gap between their evening meal and lunch. Poor nutrition can affect their energy, concentration and ability to participate fully in learning. Swapnanagar has therefore introduced a simple but meaningful initiative: providing every student with one egg during each school day.
Our partnership with Swapnanagar:
Lighthouse Aid has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Swapnanagar Society as our local implementation partner in Bangladesh. Through this partnership, we aim to work together on projects that support vulnerable communities, with Swapnanagar assisting Lighthouse in implementing suitable projects locally and Lighthouse supporting initiatives of Swapnanagar that align with our charitable objectives.
The School Nutrition Project 2027 is one such initiative that Lighthouse Aid is sponsoring and fundraising for. We believe supporting a child’s education also means addressing basic barriers that can prevent them from learning effectively.
Our involvement is intended to go beyond this campaign. We hope to build a long-term partnership with Swapnanagar and continue supporting practical initiatives in education, nutrition and community development where they can create meaningful and sustainable impact.
The 2027 Campaign:
The project aims to provide one egg per student per school day for approximately 140 children, from pre-primary to Class VIII.
For the first six months of 2027:
140 students × 1 egg × 20 school days × 6 months = 16,800 eggs
The estimated funding requirement is BDT 201,600, approximately AUD 2,500, based on an estimated cost of BDT 12 per egg.
Lighthouse Aid is raising funds to support this campaign, with the project to be delivered locally in partnership with Swapnanagar.
Help us nourish their future
A small contribution can have a direct and practical impact. An egg may seem simple, but for a child who regularly attends school hungry, it can provide valuable nutrition and help them stay focused on learning.
Together, Lighthouse Aid and Swapnanagar want to help ensure that poverty and hunger do not stand between a child and their education.
We invite our donors, supporters and wider community to join Lighthouse Aid in supporting the School Nutrition Project 2027.
One egg. One day. One learner.
A small contribution today can nourish a child’s opportunity for tomorrow.
